In my work, whether commissioned or personal, I draw initial inspiration from the immediate surroundings, architecture, environment, colour, light and form, to provide a focal point within a space. By layering glass pieces, for fusing, several tones can be achieved from the physical movement of molten colour. Such movement is emphasized when creating sculptural and curved forms as the glass reflects light. Motivated by the endless possibilities of manipulating glass through kiln forming, I am constantly enthused by the physical changes that occur during the heating and cooling process. I thrive on the anticipation of changes that happen in the kiln after a firing commences. Working predominantly as a glass artist, I produce kiln formed glass, sometimes combined with other techniques, for interior, exterior and architectural spaces. I work to commission and respond to site specific, public and private locations. Works are wall hung, freestanding, suspended or physically integrated into the fabric of a building. All glass can be easily adapted to conform to the safety standard guidelines set out in The Building Regulations 2000 Approved Document N.
