My work is broadly figurative, with the female form as its main focus. While my life drawings are rooted in the European tradition, in my sculptures I look to broader influences and have worked under Dudzai Mushawepwere and Matthew Nakhawale from Zimbabwe. I really love the act of carving as it allows me to trace every line and connection I see and to feel the emerging form so that the process comes to involve elements of performance and dance. I enjoy collaborative working and site-responsive projects and also have experience in garden design, so would relish contexts for combining these different facets of my practice. Suggestions, invitations, commissions welcome!
I also work with AIM - Artists in Mind - mentoring artists with mental health problems and running workshops in a well-being context.
