I make sculpture, mostly carved and often in wood. I also make large scale drawings and the occasional painting. I'm definitely a maker- interested in the relationship between processes and subject matter. Wood appeals to me for it’s corporeality, with less notions of permanence than other sculptural materials. It’s also significant that I carve. A reductive process, carving leads in one direction and I hope to acknowledge the relationship between these two factors in my work. I’ve been artist in residence at an Italian art school, taken part in an international symposium, and received funding to build camera obscura devices. These cameras are at the studio and are sometimes used by our students. I teach sculpture and drawing, including life drawing, to adults and children at the studio.
