Amy Hirst is an artist whose work is interactive and explores new ways of engaging audiences. She leads Sensation, an arts company specializing in multi sensory work including puppetry, storytelling and installation in schools, community venues, museums and galleries. Amy often collaborates with other artists and organisations to deliver projects, exhibitions and events. Trained in theatre design, Amy became interested in the way we interact and communicate through her work with people with learning disabilities. Her multi-sensory approach has developed through work in Special Schools and freelance projects creating interactive and tactile environments. Recent projects include an Emotional Health and wellbeing project with Primary schools in Kirklees; Puppetry and Storytelling course for Adults with Learning Disabilities (Bradford District Care Trust); and an Exhibition Design project for Year 10 pupils at Westborough High School, Dewsbury. Collaborations with other artists include animation work with Kate Desforges. Amy has worked with a range of arts organisations, including Encounters, Hoot, Interplay Theatre Company and Huddersfield Art Gallery. Examples of previous projects include Sensory Shed Installations for I love west Leeds Festival; Storytelling performance with Red Octopus, Liverpool; Sensory Story and installation Residency at Fairfield School Batley.
