I have only recently taken up pottery after working in a wide variety of jobs.
Having been married to a potter for 25 years, but always busy doing other things, I decided a couple of years ago to take up pottery evening classes.
I discovered that I enjoyed it and it was a relief to be doing something different from sitting at a computer. Of course my early attempts were hopeless but gradually I started to develop a style of my own and plucked up courage to enter a couple of pieces in Holmfirth Artweek which I was pleased (and surprised) to sell.
I run a small software business so pottery is still a part-time activity for me. I work in a room in our home in Holmfirth which has a pottery bench on one side and a clay-encrusted PC on the other.
My work is in un-glazed stoneware (frost-proof and suitable for indoors or out) and is currently mostly of animals (though I hope one day to be good enough to attempt human figures).
