Now retired, Peter Fisher spends most days making a wide variety of wheel thrown pottery. These pots are mainly functional items for kitchen/tableware, made using translucent porcelain, finest white stoneware from Australia and red earthenware from the ground beneath Huddersfield itself! Domestic ware ranges from everyday mugs, jugs and casserole dishes to more elaborate items such as the now popular Moroccan ‘Tagine’ and the French ‘Daubiere’. Larger scale work has included fountains, sundials and commemorative platters. This now full-time hobby started at the age of 12 at King James's Grammar School in Almondbury and has been a key feature in his life ever since. Having trained with and been inspired by some of the world’s most accomplished craftsmen, the quality of Peter's pottery reflects the skills and many design features acquired over a half a century. Peter Fisher's pottery is in the basement of his Northgate property (formerly FISHER'S TILERS) now occupied by YORTILE LTD in the centre of Huddersfield with ample off road car parking. This pottery workshop and display area is well worth a visit. Oh! And remember to bring your wallet as you are sure to want to buy a piece of his work.
